I created this seamless pattern last year. It wasn’t a good fit for a kitchen towel, but it seems appropriate for this post.

I’m reaching an age where celebrities I remember from my younger years look totally different. It’s not like my friends, who still look like themselves, just with a few creases, grey or less hair or a face that’s a little fuller or less full. Those things don’t matter because the recognition is there. Their themness. Your youness. I’m sensitive to this because I draw people. It’s funny, the little details that make a drawing a likeness. The shape of a nostril, the curve of a tooth, the line of the lip.
